Dato Badlisyah Abdul Ghani joined as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji on 1 July 2016. Previously, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Banking Division of CIMB Group, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, and the Country Head of Middle East and Brunei of CIMB Group. His appointment as CEO of CIMB Islamic Bank made him one of the youngest persons to helm a licensed bank in Malaysia at the age of 32. Prior to CIMB he was attached to the offshore subsidiary of Bank Islamic Malaysia Berhad. Dato’ Badlisyah is the founding President of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF), the standard bearer of professionals in the Islamic finance industry globally. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia.
He has extensive experience in the field of finance and serves in various other organisations and industry committees including as Member of the Exchange Committee and Listing Committee of the Labuan Financial Exchange, Chairman of the Islamic Capital Market Sub-Committee of Malaysian Investment Bank Association, President of the Association of Islamic Banks Malaysia, Board Member of the Bahrain based International Islamic Finance Market, and Member of the Law Harmonisation Committee of Bank Negara Malaysia.
Dato’ Badlisyah was accorded the Islamic Banker of the Year Awards in multiple and consecutive years throughout his 19 years career in the Islamic finance industry from different international publications in recognition for his leadership in the industry globally. He was named one of Top 20 Pioneer in Islamic Finance by Euromoney in 2004.
He is a Chartered Banker under the Asian Institute of Bankers (AICB) and a Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance under CIIF. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, an alumnus of the ICLIF program and a lifetime member of ANSARA Taiping.
